I recently had a wonderful stay in a traditional Japanese room. The hotel surprised me with its attention to detail and authentic experience. The room itself was spacious and well laid out, allowing me to fully relax and enjoy my stay. The staff went above and beyond, setting up my bed and even organizing my luggage in the closet. I also appreciated the amazing view from the room, which added to the overall charm of the stay. Additionally, the location was perfect, being close to the beautiful Yasaka shrine and offering a great opportunity to take a stroll around the area at night.

We stayed here for 5 days and had an excellent experience. Very clean traditional hotel located in the older part of Gion, a 1 minute walk from Yasaka Shrine and 15 minutes from Kiyomizudera. There is also a coin laundry across the street, which we found very useful given how hot it was!
The staff spoke limited English. This wasn't a problem for us as one of our group speaks Japanese, but we noticed another foreigner having trouble communicating his desire for a lan cable for his room. This isn't a complaint - any English in Japanese hotels is impressive and checking in and out is straightforward enough - but it might be something to be aware of for some travelers.

Had an amazing Xmas getaway. The room was beautifully decorated with lovely views of the city. Enjoyed the traditional Japanese style bedding and the hot bath facility was very relaxing. The hotel's strategic location made visiting local attractions very convenient. Plus, enjoyed walking the nearby shopping street and trying out the local food.
The curtains didn't completely block out the early morning light, and it was a bit noisy outside. However, these small issues didn't detract from the overall amazing experience.

The staff were very helpful and attentive (although English was not strong). They did everything they could to assist and make sure our stay was comfortable and japanese room set up appropriately. The location was excellent (walking distance to Gion, for visiting traditional and city life). Excellent value for money compared with others in similar location. We would go back again.

We stayed in a Japanese style room which was enjoyable and culturally appropriate. The staff were amazing! They went out of their way to be helpful and even anticipated things that we did not think about asking. They looked up train times and gave us clear directions. They made suggestions about our tour itinerary based on local weather forecasts.
It cost a little more than we had wanted to pay.

No improvement needed, everything was great.

Ok so firstly I recommand this hotel because of the location you are literally 2 min away from all best location in gion, its beautiful to come back at night, really feel special.the staff speak enough english, the room was nice, the size was pretty good, I had the japanese style one and I have no regret.the only thing is they do not provide breakfast but its 3 min away from the hotel.i wouldnt classified this as a ryokan its an hotel with japanese room style. The only bad comment I have is how to access the hotel, with google map I ended up being 5 min away from the hotel, I had to ask some worker (thank for they kindness) and they call the hotel and brought me there, the receptionnist had to come and meet us at halway!!its a bit expensive but its worth it, dont hesitate!

Amazing complementary breakfast with delicious food and wide variety of drinks to choose from. Conveniently located in the heart of the city, close to major attractions and shopping areas. the room was spacious and well-furnished, with a comfortable bed and a stunning city view from the balcony.
The reception area was a bit cramped and lacked seating, which made it difficult to comfortably wait for friends or colleagues. the air conditioning system in the room was a bit noisy, which made it challenging to sleep at night.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing.
They only included one teabag in the room and you need to go to reception to get milk and sugar for coffee.

I loved the japanese style room and traditional bath. The staff were tremendously friendly and considerate. One even gave me a little warming bag to keep my hands warm on my travels! They were wonderful. I wish I could have stayed there longer but it was all booked up.
It was a bit expensive but I was there during peak season and every other hotel in kyoto was going for about the same price if not more.
